The Holy Quran

The Holy Quran, the sacred scripture of Islam, is a divine book believed by Muslims to be the literal word of God (Allah) as revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) over 23 years. It serves as a guide for humanity, offering wisdom, moral principles, and laws to lead a righteous life. The Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through the Angel Gabriel (Jibreel) in the Arabic language. The first revelation occurred in the Cave of Hira during the month of Ramadan in 610 CE. The revelations continued until shortly before the Prophet's passing in 632 CE. The Quran was preserved both orally and in writing during the Prophet's lifetime, ensuring its authenticity.


 
The Quran is divided into 114 chapters, known as Surahs, which vary in length. Each Surah is further divided into verses, called Ayahs. The Surahs are categorized as either Meccan (revealed in Mecca) or Medinan (revealed in Medina), reflecting the different phases of the Prophet's mission. The Quran is written in classical Arabic and is revered for its linguistic beauty and eloquence.

  
The Quran covers a wide range of themes, including:  
Monotheism (Tawhid) The belief in the oneness of God.  
Prophethood Stories of previous prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, emphasizing their struggles and messages.  
Akhirah (Afterlife) The concept of life after death, resurrection, and accountability for one's deeds.  
Morality and Ethics Guidance on honesty, justice, compassion, and humility.  
Social Justice Instructions on fair treatment of orphans, women, and the poor.  
Worship The importance of prayer, fasting, charity, and pilgrimage.  


One of the most remarkable aspects of the Quran is its preservation. Unlike other religious texts, the Quran has remained unchanged since its revelation. The oral tradition of memorization (Hifz) has been passed down through generations, with millions of Muslims worldwide memorizing the entire text. Additionally, written copies of the Quran have been meticulously preserved, ensuring its accuracy.

  
The Quran has profoundly influenced Islamic civilization and beyond. It has inspired advancements in science, art, literature, and philosophy. The Quranic emphasis on seeking knowledge led to the establishment of universities and the translation of classical works during the Islamic Golden Age.
