Early Life and Humble Beginnings
Narendra Damodardas Modi was born on September 17  1950 in Vadnagar  a small town in Gujarat India. Born into a modest family his father Damodardas Modi was a tea seller and his mother Hiraben was a homemaker. From a young age Modi exhibited a keen interest in debates and social issues, often participating in school activities and local events
As a teenager Modi worked at his father's tea stall and later ran his own tea stall near a railway station. These early experiences instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep understanding of the struggles faced by ordinary Indians.  


Entry into Politics and Rise in the RSS
Modi's political journey began in his early twenties when he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) a Hindu nationalist organization. His dedication and organizational skills quickly earned him recognition  and he rose through the ranks.  
In the 1980s Modi became a key member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) the political wing of the RSS. His ability to strategize and mobilize people played a crucial role in the BJP's growth in Gujarat and beyond.  

Chief Minister of Gujarat
In 2001 Modi was appointed as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, a position he held for over a decade. His tenure was marked by significant economic growth  infrastructure development and initiatives aimed at improving governance. However, his leadership during the 2002 Gujarat riots remains a contentious topic with critics and supporters holding divergent views on his role.  

Despite the controversies Modi's popularity in Gujarat soared and he became known for his pro-business policies and efforts to attract investment to the state.  

Becoming India's Prime Minister 
In 2014  Narendra Modi led the BJP to a historic victory in the general elections, securing a majority in the Lok Sabha (India's lower house of Parliament). His campaign, centered around the slogan Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas (Together with All Development for All) resonated with millions of Indians.  
As Prime Minister Modi launched several ambitious initiatives, including 
1. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission)  A nationwide campaign to improve sanitation and eliminate open defecation.  
2. Make in India A program to boost manufacturing and attract foreign investment.  
3. Digital India An initiative to transform India into a digitally empowered society.  
4. GST Implementation The introduction of the Goods and Services Tax to streamline India's tax system.  
Modi's foreign policy also garnered attention with his efforts to strengthen India's global standing and foster relationships with world leaders.  


Re-election and Second Term
In 2019 Modi secured a second term as Prime Minister with the BJP winning an even larger majority. His second term has focused on issues such as national security economic reform and social welfare programs like the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme.
